About The Workshop

To maintain constant sharing of ideas between researchers and policy makers, and to leverage the increased science-policy-practice interface for informed decision-making to combat impacts of climate change enhancing the adaptation and mitigation efforts uniting diverse disciplines, Directorate of Environment (DoE) along with Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP) under the Indo German Bilateral Cooperation project Climate Adaptation and Finance in Rural India (CAFRI) is organizing a one-day workshop on “Bridging the Climate Change Research and Policy Gap for Enhanced Local Climate Action in Uttar Pradesh” on 29 December 2022 at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The workshop will provide an excellent opportunity to researchers and policy makers to understand the needs of evidence-based policies to implement rapid and effective local climate action in the state.

State Mission on Strategic Knowledge for Climate Change (SMKCC)

The GoUP under the state mission on Strategic Knowledge on Climate Change (SKCC) intends to create a dynamic knowledge system that would help take actions to reduce vulnerabilities as well as take advantage of the mitigation opportunities. SMKCC will promote a better understanding of climate science, impacts and challenges through research and development. The SMKCC brings higher education and research institutions in the state together to enhance implementation-oriented education and research in climate change and related field and generate region specific knowledge on climate change and related key topics.

Outcome notes for the event

The workshop will synthesize knowledge into models that can provide predictive information on the initiation and development of climate change approaches, as well as decision support on interventions. Starting with a framework that synthesizes the research knowledge of the dynamics of climate change, alternative descriptions of these interactions and novel findings can be implemented into the model to allow policymakers to explore and update their understanding of the research outcomes
