1. The Uttar Pradesh Solar Power Policy 2017
The policy aligns with the state government's aim to develop solar energy-based power plants in the state, owing to the significant potential of solar power in the state and increasing electricity availability.
Objectives:
Encourage participation of the Private Sector and provide investment opportunities to set up solar power projects in the state.
Support in providing environment friendly and affordable Power for All.
Promote Research &Development, innovations and skill development in the State.
Achieve a target of 8% Solar Renewable Purchase Obligation (Solar RPO) by 2022.
Solar Power Policy shall be applicable for the following solar projects set up within the state:
1. Utility-Scale Solar Power Projects
2. Solar rooftop projects
3. Off-Grid application
2. Ujjwal DISCOM Assurance Yojana (UDAY)
UDAY is the financial turnaround and revival package for electricity distribution companies of India initiated by the Government of India with the intent to find a permanent solution to the financial mess that the power distribution is in.
The scheme envisages:
Financial Turnaround
Operational improvement
Reduction of cost of generation of power
Development of Renewable Energy
Energy efficiency & conservation
3. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY)
A scheme of the Government of India for rural areas, the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY), was launched by MoP on 3 December 2014.
Under the DDUGJY, electrification of inhabited un-electrified census villages taken up in 2018-19 in 1,515 villages (MoP, 2019).
Under the scheme, during the XIth five-year plan, 570 projects of INR 2,88,690 million were sanctioned, and a grant of INR 2,28,542 million had been released against these projects as of 31 December 2019.
During the XII Plan, 560 projects of INR 2,37,356 million had been sanctioned, and a Grant of INR 1,59,502 million had been released against these projects as of 31 December 2019 (MoP, 2020).
4. Saubhagya Scheme
Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (SAUBHAGYA) was launched in September 2017 to achieve universal household electrification by providing last-mile connectivity and electricity connections to all remaining un-electrified households in rural and urban areas by 31 March 2019. Electricity connections to 26.284 million households (99.93 per cent) have been provided from 11 October 2017 to November 2020 (REC, 2020).
5. Kusum Yojana
The government has launched the Kusum Solar Pump Distribution Scheme, under which solar energy power pumps would be given to farmers.
Objective:
The primary goal of the government in implementing the Kusum plan is to power 30 million diesel-powered pumps in the country with solar energy by 2022, therefore reducing the use of fuel and electricity and increasing the usage of solar energy.
Solar panels may be encouraged to safeguard the source of electricity. Farmers will utilise energy for irrigation and sell the remaining electricity to the grid to make money under the Kusum plan.
6. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna (PMUY)
People in rural India rely on unclean cooking fuels such as firewood, coal, and dung-cakes, which has resulted in indoor pollution and a variety of respiratory diseases. PMUY was launched to provide LPG connections to provide clean-looking fuel, particularly to BPL households, and promote the cleanliness and purity of the environment. The scheme will increase the usage of LPG and help reduce health disorders, air pollution and deforestation.
Objectives:
7. Domestic Efficient Lighting Program (DELP)
The Government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP), with the Government of India (GoI) in association with Energy Efficiency Services (EESL), has launched a Domestic Efficient Lighting Program across the state of Uttar Pradesh.
Objective:
8. Standards and Labeling (S&L) Programme
The Bureau initiated the Standards & Labeling programme for equipment and appliances in 2006 to provide the consumer with an informed choice about energy-saving and, thereby, the relevant product’s cost-saving potential. The energy efficiency labelling programs under BEE are intended to reduce appliance energy consumption without diminishing the services to consumers. The most recent additions to the list of labelled products are variable capacity AC's and LED lamps.
